I am changing jobs, and my team very kindly bought me this as a leaving present. I can’t wait, but probably will – at least until we’re in the Lakes over New Year. Michael Jackson (the other one) describes it thus ‘A huge, powerful, bear-hug of peat…The driest of Islay malts, and an established classic.’ Looking forward to posting my thoughts. Apparently teetotaller Johhny Depp sometimes orders a dram of this just to sniff; I shan’t be emulating him.

I decided that I’m not such a fan of Lagavulin because when we got to the distillery there was no tour. Which was a shame. I have to agree that it is a nice dram though.
I’m currently waiting for them to start selling some of the new Ardbeg to reach ten years of age – just finished a bottle of the nine year old “Almost There”, which was pretty good. And I’m sure you remember drinking some of the six to seven year old “Very Young” while we were in Loch Lomond in 2006…
